I also have both Aspergers and moderate-to-severe depression. All of your post is intensely familiar, so you are not alone, if knowing that helps. I don't have anything very useful to say, other than solidarity and sympathy to you. Yeah. I just wish I knew how to better cope with it. Its weird, it seems the older I get, the more I "feel" like I am losing control.

I found your videos on the portable very informative and was scrolling through your channel hoping you had more!!

It did for awhile. years in fact. But then after awhile, it gets old and all the motivation goes away.

Posted by: ScutBoy on 2020-10-25 15:03:56 @techknight - I've been there as well. It's a long road, but things can and will get better.
I can empathize with where you are at. What helped me was not internalizing how I felt, but talking about it with wife, friends, etc. Knowing that other people knew, and cared, and were willing to cut me some slack when things weren't going well really helped in the long run. If you have folks you can open up with, give it a try.

(all drug addicts on my mothers side, father disappeared out of my life when I was 16). not married no kids, etc.

I know it’s the internet and all, but You have ya!! What state do you live in?

Posted by: Slammbone1986 on 2020-10-25 17:09:01 Well I got the machine to boot like I said. The Hard disk is hit or miss. Was working last night and now it’s not either way I get it to boot on a disk I have and this is what comes up. Also I took a picture on the board where it looks a little suspicious. What y’all think? Previous owner used the PB power supply for a few years before everything quit and I purchased it.

Posted by: techknight on 2020-10-25 17:29:22 Yea thats what happens if someone runs it off of the power adapter and not the battery. that transistor is probably bad and will need replaced.
The power level issue could be a bad trace between the PMGR and the power regulator section by the two buttons on the lower left corner of the logic board
matter of fact, one of the caps I believe leads to a resistor which leads to the battery level detect lead on the PMGR IC. so if you missed a trace when rewiring the capacitor after the pad lifting, youll get this same error.
|
Posted by: Slammbone1986 on 2020-10-25 17:46:54 Gotcha yeah do you recall which cap it is? Cuz I didn’t do such a good job on the one all the way to the right, farthest from the buttons. So that transistor (Q1) will go bad is run with the 2.0 amp charger for too long?

Posted by: Slammbone1986 on 2020-10-25 17:50:25 I think I dorked up C26

I think I dorked up C26 And thats the one thats partially responsible for getting the battery level signal back to the PMGR. Look at the schematics for the M5120 non-backlit. it lables the pinouts for the PMGR IC, they are the same between the two machines. Find the lead for the ADC, Battery level, and trace it back to that stage. youll probably find an open connection.
|
Posted by: Slammbone1986 on 2020-10-26 10:21:35 Don’t see a line named that on the schematic. The only thing close I see is PMGR ADB on pin 41. Could they be the right one?
|
Posted by: Slammbone1986 on 2020-10-26 10:24:26 If you look st the next page Hybrid/power supply. There are some lines named battery sense and power supply....etc not too sure if that is related to what I’m looking for
|
Posted by: Slammbone1986 on 2020-10-26 10:27:09 That’s also the same page where I found the C26 cap but it’s connected to the hybrid chip. Which on my board is much smaller than what’s on the M5120 schematic. So I’m too sure how to read what’s going on.
|
Posted by: Slammbone1986 on 2020-10-27 21:08:37 Repaired all the Caps and lifted pads and still getting the same message. I can’t make heads or tails of the schematic for the non back-lit. The PMGR is the same (i think). But there is no hybrid chip on my board instead a much smaller op-amp is labeled U1M. Are there any schematics floating around for the 5126? Because I can’t trace the AD line back from the PMGR especially if I have broken traces. I’m not even sure if the pins on the PMGR are in the same location.

Hear, hear! I'd love a set right about now as well. Seems that they don't exist in the wild; Techknight says he doesn't know of any, and if he doesn't, then they're buried deep somewhere 🙂

Posted by: techknight on 2020-10-28 08:34:47 Maybe in apples old archives that got donated to some library somewhere maybe.

Posted by: Slammbone1986 on 2020-10-28 09:48:32 Yeah until then I’m dead in the water with this battery issue.
