£175 with 8mb and a network card or about $250, the 64mb simms were $51, the amazon reseller has accepted refund i just need to post it back.

Those simms had the chips stolen off of it.
You can see the solder dross left over from the chip removal.
They will NEVER work, not without the missing chips! And the burn is from the heatgun during chip removal.

I would have to agree with TechKnight in that the SIMMs had chips stolen off them.
But from the looks of it, they look like 3-Chip Parity SIMMs with the Parity chip removed. This would leave 2 4-bit 8mb RAM Chips; which maybe workable on the Mac II Series (which includes the SE\30). Something about not all high density chips work on the Mac II Series but will on other 30pin SIMM Macs. I have a bunch of 1MB 3 Chip SIMMs and one of those Chips is for Parity; remove that chip and it will still work.
It's a waste of time to do this but who knows, desoldering the chips, cleaning up the SIMM Board and resoldering the chips back on should make it work again. To me, it looks like sloppy workmanship that is screwing up the SIMMs.

Not good, they've agreed to refund me although i think i need to make a complaint to amazon to get this guy removed.

I would send them back with an email saying "Thank you for wrecking my machine!" Make sure Amazon gets a copy of that email! Let's not advise people to commit wire fraud, hmm?

Late to the thread, but I've had no trouble with OWC. Got 4x16 for my SE/30 from them and they worked great once I figured out the right configuration to install them in.
They are a little tall for the space available. I found what worked for me was, instead of sliding the motherboard in from the top as usual, fit in one side of the motherboard in first and then wiggle/bend the metal frame a bit until the other side pops in. No harm done and it fits beautifully.
