[Disclaimer: I haven't watched the video yet]

Our very own @Danamania, if I'm remembering correctly, left an ADB Mouse of some description on top of a house for a few days, and observed the attendant reduction in yellowing, followed quickly by a return of the yellowing

I considered trying it out while the experiment was in progress, but of course +6mo because it was winter ehere at the time, but I never got around to it.

Edit:

Relevant thread.

I just finished reading every single post in the three-page thread. Not one of those posts mentioned the yellowing coming back soon there after.

Either I misremembered (possible, it was two years ago) or that particular follow-up happened in IRC or Twitter.

Yeah, I mentioned it on IRC only I think, and not too long ago.

The Quadra 605 I did back then had the yellowing come back over a few months to similar yellowing as its feet - I figured it was a failed attempt, an experiment that showed UV worked temporarily but not long term.

I pulled the same Q605 out a month or two ago and it's now the most yellowed machine I've ever owned. When I pulled it out for this pic I pulled the top off to check the innards (habit - to make sure no batteries) and the whole rear of the case cracked. It's as brittle as chips.

Won't be lightbrighting again!

The large image was taken today, May 12. The top right image was mid-January 2017 after 9 days in the sun.

Yes, I've checked Yahoo Auctions Japan, which is where most of the vintage Mac equipment is traded.  No floppy disks with any of them though.

It looks like one went on private sale on Mercari with the original box and floppy a year ago, so maybe one day another unicorn will go up for sale
