Talk about a kick in the ass. Asking you to return the fake. I'd ship him a cat turd.
My kitty will volunteer one for you.

If you have a good thermometer, measure the idle and busy temperatures of the CPU before you replace. I got a few m68040s which were supposed to be the newest mask which got just as hot as an old early 1990s mask before I finally got a real new one.

Gulp. I just ordered a 33 mhz 68040 from Hong Kong. Hoping it'll be a good one, will be sure to report back.

Well, mine just arrived and it appears to be a genuine full 68040, 33 MHz, according to TattleTech.

This was the auction:

I give them a low offer first, they returned with 43USD.

Cool! It looks just like mine apart from the codes up in the right corner.
Is your TattleTeck screen different from mine?

Got me one of these also. USD43. Startup is a a few seconds quicker. Also I notice the fan turns itself on and off now, whereas with the 68LC040 it was on all the time... That´s cool 🙂
