| Non Backlit Recapped Portable Questions and Help (Yes... another) |
Posted by: LaPorta on 2018-11-27 08:04:53 I’ll have to inquire on a separate thread. Enjoy yours 🙂.

Posted by: Johnnya101 on 2018-11-27 13:23:03 Ok LaPorta, now here is a question about yours 🙂
If its very quiet in the room, on the portable I can hear quiet static almost that sounds to be coming from the speaker. Sometimes messing with the volume will get it to quiet down. Does yours have this? Maybe its some sort of an interference issue on my end...

Posted by: LaPorta on 2018-11-27 15:32:51 I noticed the same...funny, I was exploring it last night. Sounds a little scratchy, only after startup. I noticed that after playing a sound, however, it disappears.
is this the same you experience?
P.S. - my SCSI2SD showed up, but not the adapter yet. Is yours powered straight through the SCSI connection?

Posted by: techknight on 2018-11-27 15:37:06 Sound issue is normal on these boards. Its worse with boards that had worse cap leakage.
Cause? electrolyte gets in between the layers of the PCB and never comes out, it creates parasitic capacitance and resistances where there shouldn't be any, and static is a byproduct.
The fix? None. Maybe boil it out of the board, I dunno.

Yes LaPorta, pretty much same experience here. I didnt bother plugging in the molex since I read that it uses the power of the SCSI. No issues yet.

Posted by: LaPorta on 2018-12-04 05:36:52 How is yours coming along? I’m interested to see pictures of how you mounted your SCSI2SD. I’m trying to find the optimal way for mine.

Posted by: Johnnya101 on 2018-12-04 13:39:51 Its finished as of now. I just mounted it on some cardboard for now. Maybe Ill get a real hard drive carrier for it.
