Power Macintosh 6100 PC Compatibility (DOS) Card
Posted by: aapl2c on 2019-08-07 10:28:26
Attached are the video driver files off the original disks included with the DOS card. The INF files for the Windows 3.1x drivers identify the video chip as a "CHIPS 450". Disk 1 has the Windows 3.1x drivers and Disk 2 has drivers for various DOS programs including the VESA BIOS Extension driver. Looks like it only supports 640x480 at 256 colors and 800x600 or 1024x768 at 16 colors.

I have a Performa 640 DOS Compatible and have been searching for usable VGA drivers for Windows 3.1 - these drivers work for it as well, so far at least.

Thanks!!

I was wondering if someone would be willing to repost these drivers?  Whenever I try to download them, I get and error saying the source file could not be read.  TIA

Send me a PM...I can get them to you.

Hi this is my first post here!

Was recommended this topic here from a user on the Vintage Macintosh Group on facebook. I just bought a Power Macintosh 6100 with the DOS Compatibility Card however with no driver disks included!

I am understanding that the .zip file above is for the display drivers? What about the SoundBlaster driver? Does anyone have it? What else do I need. I have downloaded the latest PC Setup.

Thanks!

I have multiple copies of original DOS Compatibility disks around from the two 6100 DOS Compatible models I have. I would be more than happy to make images of them for you this weekend.
Firstly, excuse my double-posting, but didn't see how to delete the first one.

Would you be willing to make images for me?

I think those images got made, and, they're on vtools!

Send me a forum PM with the user name you want for vtools and a starter password, 8 characters or less, and you'll be able to connect and grab them from the public share!

Oh great! Thank you! I sent you a message.

Yes, I uploaded them to vTools: that’s where you’ll find them!

Thanks! Which directory did you upload them to? I can't seem to find the file(s).

I think they're in the public share (or directory if you're using FTP) and then there should be a folder called something like LaPorta's Uploads.

I found LaPorta's software for archive directory, however I don't think the files are there. Either that or I can't find them unfortunately. I searched the entire vtools but didn't see any dos or compatibility card-related file names.

Maybe the files got deleted? it was a while ago after all. If they're gone, could you please upload them again so I can grab them?

The video and sound floppies in this archive worked for me, even though it's titled the LC630 version:

This archive stored on the Mac Garden has what I think is the same suite of disk images with software for DOS as the above:

  • APPLE_PC.img
  • Display Dri.img
  • Display Dri2.img
  • DOS Compatibility Install.img
  • Sound Blaster.img
The main difference is that the software for Mac in the Mac Garden version is 1.0.7, while the Mac Repo archive contains 1.0.5. I'm not sure what the concrete differences between them are. Anyone knows? The Garden has 1.0.3 on a different page somewhere too.
