Upgrading FastPath 4 to FastPath 5?
Posted by: NJRoadfan on 2013-09-20 22:26:39
If the battery was dead, the unit likely needs a hard reset. Replace that battery, otherwise the configuration is lost after switching the unit off! In Net Manager click the Fastpath entry and in the Fastpath menu click "Restart". See my e-mail for further directions. Also make sure both the Localtalk and Ethernet cables are connected as I think the new ROM does a link test.

#1 has a green PCB and 5.0 Boot PROMs.
Looks like that's the model I have as well:

For upgrading the boot PROM to 5.1.2, I guess I'd need a flasher with that socket type? Does anyone know what the name of it is?

Those appear to be 32 pin PLCCs.

The boot PROMs really aren't that important on the FastPath 5, there is nothing to flash. They are only used to bootstrap the device with a VROM and K-STAR file.
