I think in some later models, the button has a different name and I'm not sure what the purpose of that button is anymore once it has a different name.
From what I gather, the power manager is in charge of scheduled power ons and maybe wake-on-lan / administrator access related stuff.

I'm really bad at soldering and stuff, but the IIci has only a few capacitors and they're all easy to get to. Compared to my LC, it was a joy to work on. 🙂
