| Posted by: MacJunky on 2011-04-28 17:12:07 I put a 400MHz GBE CPU into my DA, at first I changed the multiplier setting under the presumption that I needed to, but performance was really low so I bumped it up a couple times back to what it was originally and then it was fine. The mobo seemed to revert to 100MHz when it was installed so changing the resistors was underclocking it. I will see if I can find screenies. What ASP tells you is generally a lie when it comes to dinking around with CPUs. *Edit Actually, it looks like I was using my 450 Sawtooth CPU that I ran at 500, not the 400 GBE CPU around here. Anyway:  Now, a little info, the lower speed benches are marked, as an example, DA600.450. This means DA is the system, ASP reports 600MHz and Gauge Pro reports 450MHz. I added the beige G3 result that macbench came with for comparison. I suppose it is possible that the QS2002 can not take Sawtooth CPUs, but the DA and QS boards are so similar I would be surprised if that changed. I never tried it when I had a QS2002. | |

If not then you'd be trying to run the400mhz processor at 533mhz which it likely won't doAh, quite right! I had forgotten! IIRC, there is also an issue with the mounting screws, isn't there? | |

He is sending me a new logicboard for shipping to help see if we can't get it working. :quadra: I'm betting on the old psu fried my first new lb. Old psu ain't getting anywhere near this new lb. }🙂 It's one thing to find mac enthusiasts here, it is another to find them on eBay. | |

It actually sustained the power button light and was working.(No chime, but that was b/c of no ram) I grabbed a fresh RAM chip, popped it in and DEATH! It is now back to its old symptoms(and this is with a confirmed working psu AND lb). Is it possible a bad RAM stick killed the lb? Assuming the RAM stick didn't kill the board(There was no smoke, no pop, no spark, no nothing...) and I merely got lucky and got one boot out of a dead cpu/front analog board. I am looking for a (third)new cpu and a front analog board. If anyone has these handy, let me know. Though, I think it is the cpu based on the symptoms: With no cpu it behaves as it should, and with the cpu it shows the signs of a bad cpu minus the power light staying on. | |

Would a Dual 1 ghz cpu work on this lb? I intend to get a 733 off of eBay for 8$, but am wondering if it will be possible to take it back up to where it was. | |
| Posted by: khmann on 2011-06-02 07:31:36 any 466/533/733/800/933/1ghz... anything with a 133mhz FSB from a DA, or QS should work without issue. With no ram installed, you should get 3 beeps at power on. concur with the other posters statement of what happens when CPU not in - maybe it's not seated well? Good luck... : ) | |
