Finally- a PISMO!!!
Posted by: Mike Richardson on 2009-11-21 06:27:10
i am considering buying a new battery and a 500mhz cpu for the pismo. 3 questions: 1) will i notice a considerable difference in speed between the 400mhz cpu and a 500mhz cpu (both G3)?

2) is it more worthwhile ( and doable) to overclock the stock cpu?

3) what brand battery (if any) should i buy?

thanks!

I LOVE my pismo!

1. Assuming the L2 cache is the same, you'll see a 20-25% improvement. Assuming the 500 MHz has a larger L2 cache, you'll see an even larger improvement.

2. Not sure.

3. Apple hasn't made any batteries for these in a long time. Any "new" Apple batteries have been sitting around for years and are worthless. Buy the cheapest off-brand you can find on eBay, because all of the off brand batteries (including name brands like OWC or NewerTech or BTI) come from one of a few suppliers in China, and they're all of about the same quality.

It would only be piracy if you used the CD or DVDs to install the same software license on TWO machines at the same time.
What if he installs Tiger on a PowerMac on a Tuesday, but on Thursday he installs Tiger on the Pismo? ;D

A new battery is in the mail, and i just made the apple on the cover red!

Its funny, the battery cost a few dollars more than the pismo
