Did check the pillow after I awake, if I don't find some brain leaked out. Negative, but anyway. Changed the RAM in both Banks with different sticks (always same kind, size, speed in each Bank) to no avail. One thing. Manual on troubleshooting reads something like this for testing. Set rotary dial to 4, connect Laserwriter II test connector???? to DB-25, OR, just jump pins 4 and 22, and restart. Maybe I am missing something somewhere. Do not have "Laserwriter II test connector," so I did following: I jumped, I understand connected, pins 4 and 22 on DB-25, and, with nothing else connected, restarted printer. What followed was: Starting sound (as I said, I know the printer is working), Paper jam, Paper out, and toner lights came on all for a second, then went out, and on comes Green, ready light. Like everithing is just ready for printing. Except nothing is working. Chooser not seeing printer either. According to manual, All lights should start flashing, and test shoul take some 2 minutes or so. Am I doing the "jump" right or what? This Green-Ready light I get if 4 and 22 connected or not. As soon as I change from 4 on rotary, and restart, same original flashing comes on again. Got a feeling that there must be a way, to isolate the problem. But how? Pilgrim
| Posted by: trag on 2010-01-14 16:38:26 Have you done a search on fixyourownprinter.com's forum. They may have some helpful information. I found them useful when I was trying to keep an old TI Microlaser Plus going, until I realized my quality of life would be higher if I just dumped it and bought a more recent (used) HP laserjet with postscript, LocalTalk and Ethernet.
Darn, though. We had some investment in that ML+. Maxed out SIPP memory at 4.5 MB...
| Posted by: pilgrim on 2010-01-14 18:30:35 Well, I know the site, so I will take a look. I know too, that when I am done with LW, I might go for something like a Lexmark, which I saw for around $150 in Best Buy, W/Ethernet. Laser (no color, which I don't use anyway) doing some 30 ppm. But darn, I got so much stuff for these baybies. I bought 4 of them at Goodwill, $5.00 a piece. And they are so nicely light. Well...
