Is everyone 100% sure that these machines cannot go up to 1 Gig of memory? Unfortunately since the beige G3s only have 3 slots, yes.

Posted by: iamdigitalman on 2009-08-22 04:09:01 I had one, nice machine. Heavy as all get out though. The power lead going to the drives stopped working, which basically made it useless unless I used another power supply. Gave it away to scrap, after stripping out all the juicy parts, like the power splice cable, and the zip drive with floppy power connector.

[as does OS9 & X]

Posted by: Richard on 2009-08-23 21:38:28 I actually like how they look
|
Posted by: Temetka on 2009-08-25 01:32:23 I've always liked how they look and to be honest, would not mind owning one. It'd be like an iMac except with proper expansion built right in.
|
Posted by: Mars478 on 2009-08-25 06:31:08 I wouldn't mind owning one either if they weren't so mindblowingly large.
They are very interesting machine. I don't think I have ever seen one in da flesh.
Take some pictures of you G4 AIO.
Mike Richardson sells a Desktop G3 with a G4, and just the G4 makes it worth it to buy that computer, It would make a nice server.

Posted by: MacManiac1701A on 2009-08-25 06:59:18 How do I attach pictures?
I really didn't think the G4 was going to make a big difference but it does.
I mean you cannot play any OSX games but I do have OS 9.2.2 for my old games.
The internet runs smooth...
I have run some dreamweaver how-to movies on it and it is acceptable frame rate.
And now with the inclusion of the DVD-RW that I bought on ebay I can share or install programs on DVD and burn
DVD's.
It is a very capable machine.
I bought it for 20.00 + with the additions I spent 80.00 on upgrades...
the video memory is upped to 6meg. so that helps...
and I am still waiting for my pci wireless card for it.
actually this machine is a bit heavier than a emac.
so the upgrades so far:
512mg memory,
120GB hdd
G4 cpu upgrade
Video memory 4 mb upgrade
DVD-rw drive
usb 2.0 card (it runs usb 1.1 under os 9.2.2 and 2.0 under osX)
and soon to have PCI wireless card
it runs itunes great, I have my whole 50 gig library on it.
