| Macintosh IIci gives chimes of death; memory trouble? |
Posted by: tanuki65 on 2015-04-18 15:44:37 I ordered the memory.
Why won't 68kMLA let me edit my previous post?

Posted by: unity on 2015-04-18 16:06:16 You can only edit for a certain window of time.
edit: That RAM will work, but for $9.95 you can get new 16MB SIMMs from OWC.

Posted by: tanuki65 on 2015-04-18 17:50:31 Too bad, I already ordered 4MB SIMMs from http://www.computermemoryoutlet.com/. I'll keep OWC in mind for when/if I'll need to upgrade. (I think I'll need to, what with RAM-hungry apps like NN 2.02.)

Posted by: tanuki65 on 2015-04-23 15:58:36 The computer now works and reliably (I think; I only tried it a few times) boots! Thank you, RalfK. Thank you, Elfen. Thank you, Unity. Thank you, Uniserver (for the recap).
Now I just have to figure out how to fix the floppy drive...

Posted by: unity on 2015-04-23 17:51:09 YAY!!!! Well the floppy *can* be the easy part. Lubrication is first step. Cleaning the heads is second. Just be glad its not a 400k drive, those can be a PAIN.
|
Posted by: Elfen on 2015-04-24 12:11:52 Congrats Tanuki65! The floppy should not be hard as Unity stated. And as long as you have the plastics to have it in its place, you should be fine!
|
Posted by: tanuki65 on 2015-04-24 17:50:36 Yup, I hope I didn't fry the floppy controller by mistaken probing.
|
Posted by: tanuki65 on 2015-04-25 10:31:13 I think the floppy drive is working!
|
Posted by: Elfen on 2015-04-25 17:16:47 Did you Lubed it? You should clean it up and lube it.
Unfortunately I cant find the instruction that was on the wiki as the wiki is still down. But you could probably google the information.
