| The first Mac SE prototype...? |
Posted by: slomacuser on 2015-03-12 17:28:05 Amazing, I think mr. Zufi should start from the begining 🙂
|
Posted by: raoulduke on 2015-03-12 17:52:41 What's the BookCaSE?
|
Posted by: markyb86 on 2015-03-12 22:18:37 Looks to be a PowerBook and an caSE, and its beautiful! 🙂
|
Posted by: Schmoburger on 2015-03-12 22:43:17 That BookCaSE thing intrigues and pleases me greatly... as does this entire thread in fact! 😀
I am curious as to what the machine is with the anodised G5-esque case.
|
Posted by: raoulduke on 2015-03-12 23:39:31 The BookCaSE was apparently a conversion kit in Japan. http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=2979

Posted by: Robert Tripoux on 2015-03-13 00:40:16 Oh, and you may check this page on the Wayback Archive, to retrieve old previously published pictures:

(better Cmd-click on the images, to open a new tab and not lose the main page each time)

Posted by: LazarusNine on 2015-03-13 02:49:43 Well, the BookCaSe is pretty incredible. I'm trying to imagine a modern LCD in there alongside the guts of a IIci or something similar. Wow.
|
Posted by: Robert Tripoux on 2015-03-13 04:27:24 For the record, the BookCaSE conversion kit was intended to be filled with the PowerBook 5300 parts, and this (cast aluminium) enclosure and cable kit was offered to me by its designer. More info on the product could be found at http://retromaccast....one-heard-of-it and http://homepage2.nifty.com/56thWAREHOUSE/POWERBOOK/PB/BOOKCASE.html

Not gonna lie, I wouldn't mind a prototype G5 to add to my ever-growing pro-tower collection. Well fielded Robert!

|
Posted by: Robert Tripoux on 2015-04-24 03:01:20 Some other conquests...
A cooler bag+ radio Apple goodie, Twentieth Anniversary Mac graphite pen, a Golden Apple Club (employee select event) mousepad.

|
Posted by: Robert Tripoux on 2015-04-24 03:06:48 And sometimes, when digging back in you photo database, you even find pictures of some clear prototypes that you were NOT able to salvage at this time, sigh !
So this WAS my clear Mac II si, with its clear monochrome 12" monitor: A nice combination for a compact Mac. I don't think someone else could rescue it from the bin...

|
Posted by: unity on 2015-04-24 03:09:53 Dont let Hap know you tossed a clear into the bin. He will cry a little.

Posted by: MJ313 on 2015-04-24 04:09:58 What's 'Teapot'?
|
Posted by: unity on 2015-04-24 12:34:50 Its short and stout.

Its short and stout. Well played, sir.
Rather than relying on y'all to google it, I went out and did the heavy lifting myself.
Scratch what I thought it was. This C610/Q610 has the same nameplate. Not sure what's up with that.

Posted by: unity on 2015-04-24 13:44:28 I think they were test boxes for a specific model. I forget which. But it is odd that it would be in two boxes.

Posted by: markyb86 on 2015-04-25 03:46:57 Good thing it wasn't Pot 4:20 whatever it was
|
Posted by: Garrett on 2015-04-25 12:14:03 Sadly, it doesn't look the cooler radio would work. It looks like the speaker is too ate up. 🙁
The clear IIsi looks so nice! I wonder sometimes why Apple didn't market a clear model before the iMac G3s, which then were only translucent.
