| A guy wants $2500 for a IIfx on eBay |
Posted by: Unknown_K on 2008-04-21 14:35:39 The fact that it was his wifes computer means it wasn't worth much. Still cool to have anyway.

Posted by: Temetka on 2008-04-21 17:21:05 Clean machine.
I'd pay $50 for the whole setup.
|
Posted by: Mike Richardson on 2008-04-21 21:37:30 I asked the guy a question:
"I would like to purchase whatever it is you are smoking."
I want to see if he puts it on the page, ROFL.

If it had actually been Adams' primary writing computer, and contained his drafts, it would be easily worth a couple thousand dollars. (Of course, then you run into the copyright issues.) But without Adams' direct work on it, it may be "priceless" to a super-hardcore Adams fan, but it's worth the same as every other IIfx to everyone else. (I'm a huge Adams' fan, complete with autographed, leather-bound, gold-foil-edge copy of the Ultimate Hitchhiker's "Trilogy", but I still wouldn't pay very much for it.) adams also was teh first european to own a Macintosh. he ordered 4 128ks when they came out in 1984. so he is kinda important to (at least european) mac fans too 😉
oh... and he is (was 🙁 ) one of the 75 "apple masters"

IT HAS FOUR INTERFACE CARDS SEE PICTURE
Err. One of them does look like a Nubus display card with a standard VGA output. Shirley that's worth a little.. I know it is off topic kinda but do vga nubus cards go for a lot or was it sarcasm I have never looked at them on ebay so I could not tell? plus I think I have one in the basement.

Maybe he just sells them. I hear a lot of drug dealers don't actually use the stuff themselves. Cuts into the profits, if ya know what I mean. [😛] ]'>

Well, they're worth at least the price of a comparable NuBus video card + Mac video->VGA adaptor!

Posted by: trag on 2008-05-09 09:03:25 That machine didn't even have very much RAM. It had 20 MB, IIRC, which is respectable, but for $2000/$2500 it should have come with 128MB and one or more of those Daystar RAM?? cards (RAMCharger? RAMCard?)--the ones with sixteen 30 pin sockets which let you add another 128MB of RAM to your NuBus equipped Mac.
I still want to get my hands on one of those. NewerTech made one with 72 pin sockets.
Anyway, his starting bid is well over my entire budget for the 16MB IIfx SIMM project. One of these days I need to build those last few sets...

I would bid on a set if you get around to it.

Posted by: Quadraman on 2008-05-13 18:22:52 $2100 opening bid and ended with no bidders. Gee, I wonder why?

I am shocked. Nay, dismayed in your behavior. Honestly the word "y'all" should not exist and I thought someone of your linguistic caliber would have recognized that. I ain't going to stand for it. Not one bit.
