Nothing Mac related but a conquest none the less. I’ve been training to become a driving instructor, and I just passed my ADI Part 2 (of 3) test which I failed miserably back a few months ago, so I’m exceptionally relieved and excited about it.
Congratulations! That's really good. Good luck with the third part - I'm sure it's anxiety-inducing but pretty sure you will get it. |

I'm sure it's anxiety-inducing but pretty sure you will get it. The weird thing is, for the first time in years.. I’m not riddled with anxiety. It may well be because for the next couple of weeks I can’t do anything, so I literally have nothing to worry about.. but it feels so good. It’s like having suffered toothache for ages then one morning waking up and the pain has gone. |

Oh, brilliant. I'm happy for you - enjoy it! |

(Or steal them from a Toby, because despite what eBay thinks, I don't think anyone truly believes a Toby is worth £20) So I was looking at this toby card and I realised that some of the TMS4461 chips have different markings. On the second line the all start HHP 8809 but then after that its either 1051S or 1104S. I can't seem to find any documentation on the differences (if any?).. any idea on what that means or are they all safe to harvest and re-use?

View attachment 100868 They're all the same. You're looking at the date code and batch numbers. Just means they are from different batches. |
Posted by: Durosity on 2026-07-03 07:54:01 Ah good, I had a feeling it was a batch thing, just surprised to see different ones on the same board. |

I think I have a board where the built in RAM is two different brands!
Never assume that manufacturers take more care than hobbyist 🤣
Looking at those backward capacitors on LC IIIs and eMachines video cards. |

This is common and I wonder if it was to do with copy protection - as in they’d only have to send half the code to a single manufacturer. |
