Posted by: mcdermd on 2013-06-08 12:04:28 I was able to pick up a few peripherals from a nice older guy today:

Have you been able to spot a spare LCII case? The HDD and FDD caddy is missing on mine, and I've got an LCII inside an LC case, which doesn't work. 😛
Another thing I would take would be a mini-VGA to VGA adapter for the igloo project...
BTW, that prototype 500 is trick.

Posted by: mcdermd on 2013-06-08 14:01:10 Then I'll fix it!
I need to go through my mess of video cables and see if I have the 13W3 cable for it.

Posted by: Trash80toHP_Mini on 2013-06-08 14:15:20 I figured as much, is it your first? If you ever find a DOA specimen or a really fugly one you don't need, I need a case. [😉] ]'>

Posted by: mcdermd on 2013-06-08 15:00:20 It is my first. I've narrowly missed a couple before and picked up a few Rafius Mono Pivots but this is the first Macintosh Portrait I've landed.

Posted by: Cosmo on 2013-06-11 11:01:31 Great catch, but that first printer on the left, is not SilenType printer (1979).
I think you ment Apple Scribe Printer (1984).

Oh man, Apple II color monitor! :approve:

Posted by: mcdermd on 2013-06-11 12:05:59 Ah yes! Thank you for the correction.
I thought there was a platinum-colored Apple II Color monitor there too but it was a Performa Plus Display:

Posted by: mcdermd on 2013-07-08 21:33:03 Thanks to Cosmo, I went and picked up a free batch of 14 Plusses, 512ks and SEs with accessories. It felt like 2002 again.

Posted by: uniserver on 2013-07-08 21:39:31 Thanks Cosmo.

Posted by: Trash80toHP_Mini on 2013-07-08 22:05:51 Several ZFP boxen as well, NICE. WTDickens is that monitor with the chin-guard? :?:
Is the Portrait up and running yet?
|
Posted by: mcdermd on 2013-07-08 22:14:09 I'm holding out on getting an Apple Portrait card with the 13w3 connection. There's one up on eBay now I've been eyeing. Then I need to find a good box to feature it with - the IIfx or maybe I'll find a IIci sometime soon.
The "chin guard" is the "Performa Plus" display - a cheap, shadow mask thing that Spindler unleashed on the world.

Posted by: Cosmo on 2013-07-08 23:21:53 WOW Dylan, glad you were able to pick those up. They went in a good home for sure. Now you can build your own "wall-of-macs" when you get them working.
Those were advertised at retromaccast site yesterday.

Posted by: mcdermd on 2013-07-09 16:28:29 I inspected the three 512k Macs from the lot. One is an unmolested 512k with original ROMs and 400k drive. One is an unmolested 512ke. The third is an original 512k but has been upgraded with an 800k drive, Plus ROMs, a 1.5 MB Dove MacSnap board (for a total of 2 MB) and a Dove MacSnap SCSI board. I noticed it had an unpopulated header for a 50-pin connection so I soldered one onto the SCSI card. It works fine but to use an internal drive, I'll still need to plumb power from the analog board.

Posted by: mcdermd on 2013-07-17 21:35:48 Grabbed a freebie 6100 DOS Compatible

... and eagerly awaiting a 540c from uniserver. Add those to the nice 180c I got as a gift last week and it's pretty much one of the best kinds of Mac months.

Posted by: uniserver on 2013-07-18 00:58:14 sent out fedex tonight. you are getting (2) 540c
The nicest one worked fine last time a put it on the shelf.
well it still works/boots up, except the LCD only gives a all white screen. /w external monitor it displays all and works fine.
So this is why i threw in my other nicer powerbook 540c this one the Display works just as it should.
This one all is fine except the hinge is going, and you gotta give it a wrap on the side for the HD to start and boot the machine.
and the keyboard is missing its screws that hold it all the way down.
So I am pretty sure you will be able to take 2 and make one that does everything properly.
it still blows me away with this vintage mac stuff, you can shelf it fully working, come back and try it some odd amounts of time later,
and sure enough now you get a new surprise, something is (now) no longer working.
