In that photo, I think it has... 9GB disk, 18GB disk, SCSI2SD, floppy, extra fan because at least one is a 15000rpm disk. Ethernet card Radius Precision Colour XP Toby card DigiDesign AudioMedia II It usually had a Rocket in it too, but I'd taken it out for some reason when I took the photo.

Posted by: Phipli on 2026-06-15 13:22:48 no cat? That is an old photo, it's BC - Before Cat. I made the bracket for the two hard disks and the one that puts the SCSI2SD so that the card and USB line up with the second floppy opening.
Posted by: Durosity on 2026-06-15 13:26:20 Yeah I was admiring that bracket, it's pretty cool! Very nice setup.. my IIfx doesn't have anything in it. Like.. literally nothing. I got a case from @mg.man (thank you!) for a brand new board I have sitting around that hopefully works (it's in an upgrade kit box)... but it's lacking a power supply or any drives or nubus cards.

Fortunately I have quite a big selection of video cards to choose from for it.. but yeah, the prices for them has went up a fair bit recently. I’d love to get a SCSI card for it too, but they’re ridiculously expensive now.
Posted by: Unknown_K on 2026-06-15 15:07:23 There were quite a few types of SCSI cards made for Nubus, the FWB Jackhammer and ATTO SEIV are the ones people spend crazy money for (being 68 pin native). There are a few 50 pin SCSI cards out there that are cheaper but harder to find.

He offered me a job in New Zealand and offered to help with relocating costs too. I sometimes wonder how life woulda turned out if I’d taken that offer. And yeah I don’t think I’ve seen a sub £300 scsi minus card in a very long time.

The most fun option here, though rather rare, is the sixty eight thousand SCSI card, I think it was called the SCSI Bolt. Schematics and stuff are out there, if anyone wants an extremely niche reloaded type project...

I have one of the weird Triangle backup cards, but I don't have any Nubus SCSI cards. It isn't the worst thing though. If I feel the need for speed, I can always use a RAM disk. I do have a a sound card that might have SCSI, but someone shipped it to me in an envelope with a second card from the US and they both arrived quite badly damaged.

Ouch! Bad packaging drives me nuts. On a completely different note, @croissantking has just figured out why the L2 cache on my PowerBook 550c’s Newertech NuPower 183c wasn’t working. It needs a control panel. One that was available from their website all along. I’m both extremely happy it’s working and so utterly frustrated with my lack of finding that when I was searching for drivers a few months ago. 😅

It has a weird base.. it was clearly designed for using on top of the Macintosh II case as it’s the same width and depth, but it’s offset to the side. And even weirder if the monitor is on the left side of the case. It won’t spin round to be straight on with the front of the Macintosh II, it’s like 1-2° off. It’s very weird! But I like it!

Hum, I think the stand on mine is similar but different. I'm trying to think how. It's away as sadly the flyback is failing. They're lovely screens. Does your card have enough VRAM to do 256 greys? Congratulations on the acquisition 🙂
