Posted by: mcdermd on 2013-04-11 12:42:58 I'll have to snap a few pics pater but my latest conquest has both a Motorola 68000 and a 65C02 in it. Any guesses?

Posted by: CC_333 on 2013-04-11 12:52:24 Hmm... that doesn't sound like a regular Mac.
I don't really have any guesses, unfortunately.

Posted by: macman142 on 2013-04-12 01:13:26 mcdermd - how will you go about "cleaning" the yellowed iMac G3 case?
I have a friend with a Flower Power which is yellowed on one side and I've got a Bondi with a yellowed CRT bezel so very keen to know of any tricks!
|
Posted by: mcdermd on 2013-04-12 01:28:09 I'll end up retrobriting it when the sun comes out reliably. It works okay on the clear plastics also.

Posted by: macman142 on 2013-04-12 04:47:08 Oh ok, cool thanks.
Don't think that's a good idea for the flower power (being a printed pattern) but will keep it in mind for the clear plain plastics.
Love the Ruby iMacs. Only colour I'm missing now!!
Hope to see pics once you've cleaned it up. That's always a big part of the enjoyment for me!

Posted by: Trash80toHP_Mini on 2013-04-12 06:43:04 There's a faded flower power on eBay right now.

Posted by: mcdermd on 2013-04-12 12:11:16 Here is the answer to the challenge -

68k is the main processor and the 65C02 is for the sound. It's my first upright arcade cabinet and I'm into monitor troubleshooting now. Caps, caps, caps.

Posted by: uniserver on 2013-04-12 12:14:31 What,
all I see is an Apple sticker on the back of your crotch rocket 🙂

My issue was that my mind was stuck in the Apple RUT 🙂

Posted by: MinerAl on 2013-04-12 17:48:08 You gonna restore that Bad Dudez, or MAME it?
If you think there's hack whining in this hobby, go to the boards at http://forums.arcade-museum.com and ask about changing your upright cab into a MAME machine!
The good folks at http://www.BYOAC.com might be a little more helpful either way, but especially if MAME's your game.
Look like its in good shape!

Posted by: mcdermd on 2013-04-12 19:00:58 I wanted it original. There's just some monitor issues to work out - everything else is working fine.
BUT ... I haven't looked into this too much but it's a JAMMA board so all of the power, input video are a standard. I'm pretty sure that there's a JAMMA harness that people use for MAME cabinets. So I think I could make it a Bad Dudes/MAME box without any surgery - simply put a PC inside and swap the JAMMA harness between the original board and the MAME machine. I may look into it. I dunno.

Posted by: Macdrone on 2013-04-12 19:38:24 You know your gonna leave it alone.

Posted by: mcdermd on 2013-04-13 01:06:57 Monitor issues are worked out. I'll probably just replace all the capacitors here pretty soon but replacing two seems to have done the trick. Time to move it inside and order the proper color buttons and joysticks.

Thanks, MinerAl. ulitmarc looks like they have pretty much everything I need. My wife is already bugging me to look for a different cabinet so maybe I'll make this Bad Dudes cab switchable and pick up a steering wheel game (Spy Hunter? I'd love it!).

Posted by: mcdermd on 2013-04-27 12:30:59 I picked up an Apple II Plus and an Apple II clone along with a box of books, several boxes of unopened DD disks and a couple of dozen EPROMs for $10 at a garage sale this morning. Apparently, the owner worked for Videx back in the Apple II era.
