Keep in mind that we do not even have an alpha version to test yet. (a) "browser6" is the project I'm working on, I'm interested in all these other projects, they sound quite cool.
( B) a unit testing drop has now been made.

Posted by: porter on 2008-12-23 12:18:29 I don't want to raise anyones expectations. I have this ( what I have done so far ) running smoothly on
Classic, System 6.0.8, MacTCP 2.0.6.
it is compiled with THINK C 5.0, project included.
When I compile it with latest MPW, it does run on System 9.
This is not for the faint hearted, it's for the curious and the helpful!
TetrisMaster512 claims he is getting unimplemented traps. Can people post bug reports directly here? May I suggest people install MacsBugs, it may give some clues to the errors.
Ironing out bugs early is more important than continuing adding the features.

Ironing out bugs early is more important than continuing adding the features. If only Apple knew that back in '95. π
|
Posted by: MrMacPlus on 2008-12-23 12:22:12 I need to install MacTCP and I will see how that turns out.
|
Posted by: porter on 2008-12-23 12:53:49 Road map:
1. sort out this trapping issue.
2. get basic text shown in correct window pane
3. get formatted text shown
4. get stylings (bold, italics etc) correct
5. embedded URL links
6. embedded graphics
7. tables, lists etc
8. buttons
9. edit fields and forms
10. cookies
So there is still quite a bit to do.

11. Stealth mode for browsing pr0n Already done, with 1 bit, monochrome graphics on 512 x 384 nobody can work out what the picture is anyway. Actually somebody looking over your shoulder has a better chance of working out what the picture is than the user.

11. Stealth mode for browsing pr0n I only think he was being half-sarcastic. A built in proxy would be epic.

A built in proxy would be epic. What do you mean? I support HTTP proxy servers, if that's what you mean.

Posted by: luddite on 2008-12-23 17:09:54 I was being fully sarcastic.

I mean something like Tor. Well that's not going to happen anytime soon. Encryption is a killer for a lowly 68000.

Posted by: MrMacPlus on 2008-12-23 20:56:19 Hmm, even when I have MacTCP (1.1.1) installed I still trap.
Also I can't open files via the file:// protocol, though It opens a window

Posted by: superpantoufle on 2008-12-24 02:03:47 Wow. Seems to work pretty well!
I tried on a SE under french System 6.0.8, MacTCP 2.0.6. It's connected via a serial cable to a PB 1400 with IPNetRouter running, which itself is wired to my ethernet router.
What I get on the SE is first a "302 Found" page, then a window with a page title (68k Macintosh Liberation Army Forums, for instance π ). There's a debugger window underneath which shows what's being downloaded.
Haven't had time to check further as it's christmas eve and I've still some stuff to buy for tonight's meal⦠porter, thanks a lot for that encouraging present!

Posted by: MrMacPlus on 2008-12-24 10:39:45 Maybe I could get a download to MacTCP?

Wow. Seems to work pretty well!I tried on a SE under french System 6.0.8, MacTCP 2.0.6. That is encouraging. Effectively that is a similar setup to mine. There is a big difference between MacTCP 1 and MacTCP 2.
Hmm, even when I have MacTCP (1.1.1) installed I still trap. It would be nice to know what the trap was, I'd like it to be able to view local files if MacTCP does not work.
Also I can't open files via the file:// protocol, though It opens a window Look under the File menu for File->Open... ! It should be able to open local GIFs at the moment.

Right, but file>open doesn't work, if I open something I enter an unimplemented trap. also, .gif files don't show up, I don't know what type code it needs.
I'll look into all this later. π

Can you post your exact setup?

System 6.0.8 running MultiFinder at the moment. Mac TCP 1.1.1, the ONLY version I had.
I can't try it on my real mac plus cause I'm having zip disk problems (about time already).
