| We need longer signatures |
Posted by: Quadraman on 2007-06-27 10:24:35 I am running out of room in my signature for all my Macs. :'(
Posted by: Dan 7.1 on 2007-06-27 10:45:53 hell...no.
signatures should be limited to a one-line nonsensical slightly humorous phrase.
a complete listing of all your machines is just damned annoying.
Posted by: II2II on 2007-06-27 10:50:05 Second the hell no.
A signature is displayed every time you post. As such, it should be short and sweet because people are going to see it hundreds of times over.
If you really feel that it is important to show off all of your machines, create a web page and add a link to that page in your signature.

Posted by: John8520 on 2007-06-27 12:14:08 Third the hell no. Its not like people read the huge listing of computers anyways, and they add alot of length to topics. I'm going to change mine once I come up with a witty phrase for it. *ponders*
Posted by: MultiFinder on 2007-06-27 12:18:26 I'm gonna have to go ahead and fourth (is that allowed?) the hell no, after softening it to heck no.
Although I was the one that originally campaigned for longer signatures, I came to realize that really long ones are, well, really long and they tend to clutter up the forums. I've since shortened mine quite a bit.
Posted by: MacTCP on 2007-06-27 12:30:54 I fifth the softened version. I think it's fine the way it is.
Posted by: MacG4 on 2007-06-27 13:59:43 no longer signatures please
Posted by: ChristTrekker on 2007-06-27 15:05:02 255 characters is enough for anybody. As long as it can include links.
Posted by: funkytoad on 2007-06-27 15:07:52 yeah, really just make a website with all your machines on it, and just link it.
Posted by: ~tl on 2007-06-27 15:11:19 The current signature limit is 500 characters, which should be more than enough... I'm not going to increase it anytime soon.
Posted by: iMac600 on 2007-06-27 22:57:47 They're long enough already, but I won't be campaigning to shorten them. Just to clarify.

The current signature limit is 500 characters, which should be more than enough... I'm not going to increase it anytime soon. Does that include returns? 500 CRs would be a really annoying sig...

Posted by: Mr. 680x0 on 2007-06-28 05:08:28 I've pulled the links out of my sig too. That's what the WWW button is for. 😛

What if we really want to emphasize that we have nothing to say? 😉

Posted by: Dan 7.1 on 2007-06-28 13:36:33 Yell louder.

Posted by: John8520 on 2007-06-28 16:30:02 What about them? You seem to be the only one on here with a GIF as an avatar... 😛
Posted by: luddite on 2007-06-28 18:57:18 Regardless of format, the avatars take up more bandwidth than even the most excessive of sigs... of course I'm playing Devil's advocate here.
Quadraman - you might want to think about an animated giff featuring your whole collection rather than just listing them in your sig.
