Does anyone have a capacitor list for a Performa 6360? It's usually not too difficult with logic board electrolytics, no cap list really needed. Pull the board out and it will probably be mostly 47uF, with perhaps a single or couple of 100uF, 10uF or 1uF.
They're labelled on top or the sided. Replace them like for like, or with tantalum using 10v for 6v parts and 25v for 16v parts. Or with polymer caps matching the originals. |

I don't have computer yet, was hoping to order caps for when it arrives. That makes sense.
I checked online and couldn't see a high res photo of a 6360 board or a 6400 (same board - forgot to check for a 5400).
I wouldn't worry too much about rushing, the 6360 is new enough that the caps will be almost certainly OK. It's /mostly/ macs between the Mac II and 8100 you have to worry about at this point, although others if they show signs of needing it.
Just order them when it arrives and feel free to use it until the get there. If the solder pads on the caps were bright and shiny I wouldn't even bother ordering any for now. |
Posted by: mloret on 2023-03-27 07:18:09 Thank you for the guidance! I am nervous because I just completed a recap job on an SE/30 and that board was a mess. Very fshy smelling and some of the pads were damaged. I was able to get it up and running but it needed a lot of cleaning.
I did the same as you and looked for some pictures of the 6360 LB, but I wasn't able to come up with much. You're right, I'll just have to wait. I have a Performa 6300CD that I was going to recap, but when I was researching the kinds of caps I needed, I read a little more and discovered that it's considered a Road Apple. Apparently the design was idiotic. I was given the 6300CD for free and I guess that's about what it's worth. I'm going to part it out in the hope that the funds will cover what I paid for the 6360. That one seems to be a better machine from what I read. |

In 2023 there is no reason to be running 68k versions of software.
Plus, they're all slow! If we're worried about how slow a 6200 is, get a brand new thread ripper based system 🤣
I would own a 6200, 6300 and a 6360 if I could find them cheap. I like that case. It's like a better looking, mini, G3. They're really expandable, even if they do take weird cards.
Sadly they didn't sell 6360s here, but one day I'll make my own with a 5400, 5500, 6400 or 6500 board. |

I just completed a recap job on an SE/30 and that board was a mess. The SE/30 is a few years older and from the worst era for cap issues. They need recapping on sight. The 6400 isn't the same... yet 😉 |
Posted by: mloret on 2023-03-27 08:14:17 Do you have any advice on where to get a replacement battery? I found one on ebay but not thrilled about paying $30. |

I like the look of the case too, though it's a little complicated to disassemble. My Performa 600/IIvx is much easier.
I think I'm going to part out my 6300CD. Let me know if you want anything from it. |

Keep the connector and wire in a new battery of choice in the 3 to 4.5v range. Pick something that doesn't leak!
If you get a 3 battery AA box, and put the type of Lithium battery that doesn't leak in it, that should be good. |

Posted by: 3lectr1cPPC on 2023-03-27 19:23:56 I wouldn’t part out the 6300 - if it works, sell it as working. Someone will certainly want it, they’re great little desktops. LMK when you do get the 6360 cap values - I’d love to add them to the reference section on my website. A top down image of the board as well would really help. |

Posted by: 3lectr1cPPC on 2023-03-28 06:54:07 Thanks! Is that the 6360 or the 6300? I could use both, pretty sure this is the 6300 but just wanted to confirm. Also, do you know if the 6300 board was used in any of the other 6xxx systems? I know there were a LOT of similarities. |

Thanks! Would you recommend selling me 6400CD here or on ebay? I'm not doing ANYTHING using FB anymore.
I'm looking forward to utilizing your website! |
