| Original-look iomega zip disk OS installers. |
Posted by: Danamania on 2016-05-30 03:12:03 Perhaps not so useful or reliable at the time, but putting fresh installs with installer images of the old OSs on zip disks (or other removable storage) when you have a couple hundred zip disks and a bunch of drives laying around is *really* convenient.
Working in print helps too, to give it a look that fits in...

Posted by: bibilit on 2016-05-30 03:27:59 Its gorgeous, thanks for sharing.
Probably the sort of work which can only be done with the appropriate material and software only.

Posted by: galgot on 2016-05-30 05:38:03 Yeah, it's beautiful !
I would sure find some use to these...
Do you plan to release the printable files ? ๐

Posted by: Danamania on 2016-05-30 07:10:35 Sure thing. The labels, set up for 60x50mm. I've yet to do an 8.1, 8.6 or 9.x though.

And the single zip jewel case insert; print and score/fold on the dotted lines. I used a 200gsm satin, though 170 would work a little more like the original Iomega inserts I have here.

Forgive any typos in the insert, I wanted to bang one out to see how it fit/felt, mostly. I'd bet they're in there. Also, images were taken from eBay auctions for the 7.1 personal upgrade kit, and are a bit rubbish ๐ .
Ideally I'd move some bits around to suit the visibility (or lack of) of parts of the back of the case too, but later.

Posted by: Macdrone on 2016-05-30 07:30:43 Those are amazing. ย Are they the installers or are they installed on those disks?

Posted by: omidimo on 2016-05-30 11:22:40 Awesome work! Well done!

Posted by: tanaquil on 2016-05-30 12:12:39 Thank you for the upload! Do you use a color laser to print the labels, or an inkjet?
|
Posted by: CC_333 on 2016-05-30 12:33:12 Can these be used with Avery Zip disk labels?
I don't see why not, but I want to make certain.

Can these be used with Avery Zip disk labels? I can't see any reason why not - looks like those are just 1mm higher (which would make them fit the space a little better than mine) - though they have really rounded corners.ย http://www.amazon.com/white-labels-disks-5925-LASER/dp/B004Q23AY6
If you scale mine up about 1% they should cover the whole area just peachy!.

Posted by: ScutBoy on 2016-05-31 08:11:15 Sweet!
|
Posted by: CC_333 on 2016-05-31 10:10:45 Excellent! I might look into doing this, as I believe I have some Avery Zip labels somewhere....
Do you know what font you used (some variant of Apple Garamond, I'm assuming)?

|
Posted by: galgot on 2016-05-31 10:13:13 Yes Apple garamond Light, opened the pdf in Illustrator and it cried I didn't had it.
But it's easy to find.
|
Posted by: CC_333 on 2016-05-31 10:19:33 Yeah, I just installed it on my machine, so I'm good there.
OK, I'll take a look at it. Someday soon....
