| My 68k Horde |
Posted by: Carlisle on 2022-05-13 20:39:58 Over the years I've been given many computers, I usually get them in working order and give them to others, or I'll recycle them if they don't work at all. I've kept all the 68k macs and I recently pulled them out to see what I could get going:
So far I have:
2x Mac Plus, one boots from floppy and has original shipping box, purchase receipts, and manuals.
2x Mac SE, one boots from floppy if it has a hard drive it appears to be dead.
Mac SE/30 added an ethernet card a few years ago, it boots to system 7 and runs. Mathematica version 1 installed.
Mac LC III - no signs of life - hard drive dead
Performa 475 - gives tones of death, hard drive dead
Performa 630CD with 2x CD, TV tuner and video capture card - I added a IDE to CF adapter and installed System 7.6.1 and it boots. No response from ethernet card.
Another motherboard for above but appears to have a 68040 instead of a 68LC040 I've tried anything with it.
Performa 6300CD ? boots waiting for a drive. Its identical to above but with a PPC motherboard. I haven't done much with it as I only realized the other day that all the parts would come together to assemble another computer.
Quadra 650 with scsi2sd card boots to System 8.1, ethernet works
Quadra 800 boots to System 7.5
Quadra 950 boots to AU/X What a beast.
A variety of other parts:
Rainbow Sential dongle for Ultimatte Knockout
RasterOps video card. I'll need some help identifying it.
Daystar accelerator card. I think its a Quad 040
2 power supplies for a Mac II
I've used a linux box with a scsi card to image the work scsi disks from above.
Also more modern equipment: Powermac G4 mirrored door, 3 Mac Pros one in daily use. |
Posted by: Carlisle on 2022-05-13 20:43:09 Raster Ops video card photos. What is its model number? What macs can use it? |
Posted by: Carlisle on 2022-05-13 20:45:05 Daystar card, I think its a Quad 040 but I'd like confirmation. What macs can use this? I have no drivers or software for it. |

Daystar card, I think its a Quad 040 but I'd like confirmation. What macs can use this? I have no drivers or software for it. These will work in any Quadra with a PDS slot (your 650, 800, and 950 will all work.) The 'Quad 040' and 'Image 040' are basically the same thing, but the latter has an optional DSP board installed as yours does. It'll run the 040 at 40MHz with 128k cache. Any of the three lower (identical) downloads should enable it.

If you'd consider trading/selling it, I've been looking for one for quite a while! |

I dug out the old Mac IIfx from storage and had some fun getting A/UX running on it. I had some issues, so I decided to document them and collect some links etc.

Rasterops Paintboard Lightning. That link has drivers and the V 2.0 ROM. |

If you'd consider trading/selling it, I've been looking for one for quite a while! I know I don't want to keep all of these computers and parts but I haven't made any decisions yet. |
Posted by: Johnnya101 on 2022-05-14 08:37:44 Let us know what you want to sell when the time comes! That Quadra 950 sounds nice... |

Color OneScanner 1200/300 - untested. |

Posted by: Carlisle on 2022-05-17 14:44:14 I know this is a video cable, but it has four ends. Anyone recognize it? |
Posted by: Johnnya101 on 2022-05-17 14:50:55 I haven't seen anything like that before, but I see a joystick icon, so it must be some sort of mirror display + joystick combo adapter? |

Posted by: Carlisle on 2022-05-17 14:57:46 A scsi cable and adapter, but I don't recognize the square ends. |

I know this is a video cable, but it has four ends. Anyone recognize it? Might be easiest to search on the part number and see what Google or DuckDuckGo comes up with. It almost looks like the Apple IIe card cable, but that only has three connectors. |
Posted by: Unknown_K on 2022-05-17 17:11:20 Apple DOS compatibility cable. |
Posted by: DarthNvader on 2022-05-17 17:56:16
Apple DOS compatibility cable. That was my thought too. |
Posted by: Nathan_A on 2022-05-17 20:07:07 Yep, that's a cable for Apple & Reply DOS Compatibility Cards.
I have a few here. If you can tell me the model number, I can tell you if it's the version for a PDS or PCI card (as they're annoyingly not the same). |
