http://download.info.apple.com/Apple_Support_Area/Apple_Software_Updates is GONE! What to do?

interesting 😛

It's in transition - Sometimes I seem to be getting a directory listing. Sometimes not. It's flatlining guys. 🙁

crap. That's funny that I literally just posted a big list of updates and drivers I found to my website just last week.....

Posted by: LCGuy on 2013-06-07 20:09:49
I can still get a directory listing of http://download.info.apple.com/Apple_Support_Area/Apple_Software_Updates/English-North_American/Macintosh/ and http://download.info.apple.com/Apple_Support_Area/Apple_Software_Updates/English-North_American/Apple_II, but no higher directories.

Refreshing a few times seems to get a server that hasn't been "updated" yet.

I wonder how much traffic that got?

Maybe apple will give permission to freely distribute that software, then maybe you can host it on applefool?

Isn't most of the stuff from the old info.apple.com site posted here, tho?

Right but the linked items are what's starting to come up 404.

Posted by: CelGen on 2013-06-08 23:15:10
It's really hit and miss on me.

I can 404 on the first click but an F5 will bring it up eventually.

Which leads me to believe they are removing them from the server pool onesy-twosy.

Joy... Guess I'd better make some backup copies of the Service Source Compilation CD that I have... That way, I don't wear out the original disc...

Dump everything onto a 72gb drive in an ANS and connect through appleshare.

I'm pretty sure someone has already imaged the entire site.

I don't think it's just this area of apple.com. I tried downloading the current Snow Leopard security update a couple of days ago and got a 404. Tried the link a second time and it kicked in.

But either way, backup this stuff if you can. Can't assume it'll be online forever.

I grabbed the English-International, English_North_American and MultiCountry directories.
