| 100+ Compacts, 20+ PowerBooks,1 Lisa 2, and 2x NeXT Cubes |
Posted by: olePigeon on 2014-09-27 16:17:13 So, this isn't really my conquest, but I'm at least storing, sorting, and repairing for a piece of it. 🙂
CC_333, his mom, dad, and mori512 helped all helped out a lot, and josefl710 paid for the whole lot. mori512 drove the truck for us. Took about an hour to load it all, and about 45 minutes unload it. So not too shabby.
There are over 100 compacts. 50+ SEs, 15 SE FDHD, 3 SE SuperDrive, 15+ Classics, 20+ SE/30s, 14 Mac Plus, 7 512k Macs (one of which is confirmed to have a SCSI upgrade), 1 Lisa 2, and 2x NeXT Cubes, and 20+ PowerBook 100 series laptops.
Probably take a year or so to recondition and sell them. I think mori512k and CC_333 have some more pictures, like when it's loaded in the truck. I'm surprised it fit in my garage.

Posted by: techknight on 2014-09-27 16:47:32 If I were you though, I would try to get as many as the good ones as you can, and ready them by tax time.
Tax time is when just about everything sells.

Posted by: olePigeon on 2014-09-27 16:48:07 I'm pretty overwhelmed, to tell you the truth. Still not sure how this is all going down.
|
Posted by: olePigeon on 2014-09-27 16:53:09 I think that's the current plan. We're going to fix up all the SE/30s, 512ks, and Pluses. josefl710 has a bunch of SCSI2SD kits he's going to build, so I think what we'll do is fix and pimp out the SE/30s with ethernet cards and SCSI2SD cards, sell those off. Perhaps the Pluses, too, since they have SCSI.

Posted by: Strimkind on 2014-09-27 19:46:23 Very nice. I am looking forward to seeing how many you get working out of the whole lot.

Posted by: 3583Bytes on 2014-09-27 20:00:32 Looking forward to maybe placing some orders.

Posted by: josefl710 on 2014-09-27 20:31:59 Very glad to hear the haul went smoothly 🙂

Posted by: CelGen on 2014-09-27 21:34:35 I'll warn you from experience.
If you throw those up on ebay too fast you flood the market and people get mad because you ruin their prices.

Posted by: wilykat on 2014-09-27 22:08:32 Make sure you don't have ticking time bombs in those pile! Take all the old batteries out first. And check for leaky caps!

Posted by: Sherry Haibara on 2014-09-28 05:19:20 Great job, everyone! This is really an impressive haul and I'm glad everything worked out ok in the end!
It'll probably take a lot of time to check them thoroughly and bring them back to shape, but this is nevertheless a huge opportunity for the Mac lovers community! Also, I didn't expect NeXT Cubes to be in there, they're rare pieces and are probably worth a lot of money alone if they're in working shape.

Posted by: finkmac on 2014-09-28 05:58:43 Hey, neat!
I wonder what kind of NeXTcubes these are? '040? '030? Maybe a Dimension board (although that's unlikely).
If you throw those up on ebay too fast you flood the market and people get mad because you ruin their prices. Really? Great! Kick those prices down a notch!

Posted by: CC_333 on 2014-09-28 11:00:42 I didn't know about this thread until now!
Anyway, I am going to help fix up the machines as best as I can, so maybe that will help things go a bit more smoothly.
So far, I have looed at one of the SE/30s, and it actually looks pretty good inside (though the logic board definitely needs some repairs, as it doesn't seem to be working correctly). It had a red Maxell battery (unexploded, fortunately), which I removed as fast as possible.
I'll post more, including some pictures, shortly.

Posted by: techknight on 2014-09-28 11:08:14 Well if you run into any SE/30s that are too far gone, let me know I need a good condition case/bucket.
Same with a Plus.

If you throw those up on ebay too fast you flood the market and people get mad because you ruin their prices. I'd tell them to cram it with walnuts. Machines should be accessible to the public at decent prices. If people don't like market forces acting as they should tell them to move to a communist country.
