| Possible NeXT conquest.... |
Posted by: BGoins12 on 2012-11-04 19:23:41 I am so pumped! I found a complete NeXT setup sans the monitor cable for $20. I am second in line to buy it. I am hoping the first buyer falls through...
Wish me luck!

|
Posted by: BGoins12 on 2012-11-05 03:43:13 It's a first generation model, if I'm not mistaken. Here's a picture of the actual setup -

Posted by: Cosmo on 2012-11-05 03:46:12 Holy moses! All that for $20? With the SCSI drive. That's a deal of a lifetime if it works (or even, if not)!
I wish you luck!

Posted by: insaneboy on 2012-11-05 09:14:32 nice!

Posted by: olePigeon on 2012-11-05 09:44:47 I'll pay you $40 for it! You'll make 2x as much! 😱)

|
Posted by: Macdrone on 2012-11-05 10:07:29 My sentiments exactly. I've only seen one at free geek in Portland in person, but they won't give it to me.
|
Posted by: mcdermd on 2012-11-05 10:30:27 They gave it to someone else. It's been gone for months. Prices on ebay have gone into the "insane" category over the last year.

Prices on ebay have gone into the "insane" category over the last year. this is why I decided not to tinker with the one I had. needed a keyboard and mouse to be functional than I looked up to see what that would cost... 8-o yeah, that's out side the 'want to tinker with' price range and even than I still needed software, SCSI drive, my screen was 'iffy', etc.

Posted by: Macdrone on 2012-11-05 13:17:16 I was just at free geek it's above the door on the shelf as you walk in as part of thief "museum"
|
Posted by: mcdermd on 2012-11-05 14:14:38 It's been gone every time I've been in for the last few months. Just the megapixel display, keyboard and laser printer were up there.

I didn't get it. The seller had a MUCH larger offer than the $20 he was asking, and he sold it to them. 🙁

Posted by: mcdermd on 2012-11-05 16:50:08 If someone paid $500 for that Cube, you could still consider it a "killer deal" in today's crazy market.
|
Posted by: uniserver on 2012-11-05 17:38:02 MC wants a next cube.
are NeXT machines as easy to use as the Mac OS?
|
Posted by: olePigeon on 2012-11-05 19:44:34 As easy as OS X Server 1.0, anyway. 🙂
You can get an external box with a Mac ROM on it that allows you to boot System 7 natively.

Posted by: CelGen on 2012-11-05 21:16:51 What does the rear SCSI port look like? DB25 or HD50?
|
Posted by: mcdermd on 2012-11-05 22:51:06 The NeXTStation is HD50. I think the Cube is the same.
