Download for Japanese Localization for System 7
Posted by: olePigeon on 2015-06-11 08:06:02
Was this ever made for free along with the OSes?  One of my buyers is Japanese and knows very little English, would like to help him out by locating the Japanese localization for System 7.1, if one exists.

KanjiTalk?

Japanese (and other) language support was one of the most important benefits of System 7.1. Have a look for Worldscript and Japanese Language Kit.

Yeah, I was just AltaVistaing and came across the actual name.  I may have it at home if it's on the Apple Backup Library CD thing.  Probably is, I'll have to look at it.

KanjiTalk 7.1

KanjiTalk?
I'm thinking the same thing. It was, I believe System 7.1JP.

Ha! olePigeon, you beat me to the post by seconds!

I can NOT find this.  The best I could find was the Japanese Language Kit 1.2, which is for System 7.5, and it doesn't provide a Japanese GUI, just support for Japanese files and stuff.

Darn it.

I have a Japanese version on floppy for my 180 I'll see if it specific

I cannot find the originals but found 2 copies on maxall disks listed as 7.1 KT 7 Japanese install with PB160/180 Apple HD setup and a Disk first aid.

Install looks like 8 disks and the 2 setups.

I'll keep looking for the originals. I know I should have them as I got the 180 from the original owner who lived in Japan as a writer.

So I found the StyleWriter 2400 4 disk installer in Japanese that are original so I'm on the correct path.

I believe that SSW of different languages can be found on the Apple Legacy Software Recovery CD.

Posted by: olePigeon on 2015-06-16 11:01:18
It's not on the Legacy Software Recovery CD, I have that one.  It's English only.

However, I just discovered the Mac OS Anthology DVD set.  I'll give that a go.  Supposed to have all the localizations.

I have KanjiTalk 7.5, 7.5.1 & 7.6 on my server, are they any good to you?

Edit, Mac Os Anthology won't do you any good if you are looking for 7.1, it only goes down to 7.6 iirc (but it will have the Japanese localization)

Edit 2: I stand corrected, just checked disk 1 and it does indeed have 7.1, But not KanjiTalk 7.1.... However it dose have KanjiTalk 7.5.

After several hours of finally getting it, no 7.1.  Just 7.5, which is on Macintosh Garden.

Sigh.

Posted by: max1zzz on 2015-06-17 09:59:40
Aha! I have found KanjiTalk 7.1

It's on the April 1994 Developer CD (Which is on my server, I won't post any links as per the rules, but if you need help finding it pm me)

The only problem is that it is not a image, it's just the files dumped into a folder in the CD.

Do you have the 550c System Enabler? I've been looking for this for awhile

I don't have the original floppy but I will be interested if anyone have a backup.

Per our normal rules, I've removed the software piracy links.
