Posted by: conceitedjerk on 2010-06-11 13:38:37 Heh, some of us would start early if we could!
Of course, I'd probably be burnt out by the time July rolled around...
|
Posted by: wgoodf on 2010-06-11 13:54:53 You burn out by the 2nd week.
}🙂
|
Posted by: conceitedjerk on 2010-06-11 16:54:27 And sometimes before the first week is out! 😛
Not this time, though. I've got something in the works (a couple of somethings, really) that I've been meaning to do that'll set the stage for other projects down the road! 😎

Posted by: Nathan on 2010-06-11 19:44:40 From my limited experience I have to conclude that burn-out time is in some kind of ratio to the difficulty of the project or the inherent frustration involved. Slow progress is less painful than continual backtracking.

Posted by: Osgeld on 2010-06-11 20:14:55 I have never finished one, but its great fun trying
this year I have at disposal, my palm VII, my DEC386 laptop, my mac SE, and my Apple //c
hmm wonder what I will not finish this time lol

Posted by: luddite on 2010-06-12 00:53:46 I have a couple of strategies that seem to work:
1) Set your goals so low that success is guaranteed.
2) Set your goals so high that success is impossible and then adjust your definition of success to include whatever small steps you did accomplish.

;-) I plan to drink some rum and perhaps eat some chilli gummy bears. Yes! Chilli!
I think that's low enough for us all.

Posted by: conceitedjerk on 2010-06-12 13:51:55 Chilli Gummis! Wow!
I wonder if they'll market Guinness Gummis in the future..? One can only hope.

Posted by: Anonymous Freak on 2010-07-05 00:55:36 My first diary entry is up, but it just dawned on me that going to the "root" URL shows a placeholder page, while going to index.html works.
http://retro-net.org/~anonymousfreak/index.html is the proper link.
Anyone know how to make the RetroNET web server properly link to the base URL?

Anyone know how to make the RetroNET web server properly link to the base URL? I have no idea why you're getting that, it's working as expected from here...
Anyway, I've changed the link on the RC page just to be safe.

Posted by: Scott Baret on 2010-07-09 14:42:39 I'll be writing my first official diary entry this weekend, but I do want to say that so far it has been a success, yellow stripe on the 150 screen and all! New Math Blaster Plus and MacWrite Pro have been used so far with more oldies on the way--I'm looking at OutNumbered, Midnight Rescue, and possibly Carmen USA next!

Posted by: wgoodf on 2010-07-09 15:02:01 Post the link, I can never find your RC stuff on your site.

I put it on the main page; scroll down a bit when it loads and you'll find it under the boldface header "Retrochallenge Update".
I didn't want to put it under one of the tabs, so I figured the main page would work best, especially since the project will be over in August. (I will be writing a full blog entry about it though, probably under "High Wattage Noggin").
