| SCSI harddrive for my LC III? |
Posted by: macgeek417 on 2009-09-23 17:23:27 My LC III's harddrive is waaay too small, so could anyone point me to an ebay auction for a compatible scsi hard drive? i can't seem to get any results.

Posted by: Gil on 2009-09-23 17:26:30 Search for "SCSI hard drive"
Anything with a 50 pin connector will work.

Posted by: macgeek417 on 2009-09-23 17:39:12 so would this one be good?
http://cgi.ebay.com/Micropolis-2112-SCSI-HD-1GB-HH-3-5-SCSI2-50-pin_W0QQitemZ120464219207QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPCC_Drives_Storage_Internal?hash=item1c0c3a1c47&_trksid=p4999.c0.m14
|
Posted by: Gil on 2009-09-23 18:09:13 It has a 50 pin connector, so I don't see why not.

Posted by: macgeek417 on 2009-09-23 18:35:50 I meant "is this a *reliable* drive, or unreliable like the prodrives?"
|
Posted by: tmtomh on 2009-09-23 19:35:14 It looks like a full-height drive. I believe your LC will accept only half-height drives. Also, it's a micropolis, which means it's (a) old, ( B) probably very noisy, and © probably very unreliable.

Posted by: macgeek417 on 2009-09-23 19:57:33 OK, could someone point me to a SCSI zip drive then? i still have a zip100 disk or two...
|
Posted by: JRL on 2009-09-23 22:38:34 Hard drives:
IBM SCSI HD
Seagate Hawk 2 GB
x2 Seagate Hawk 2.1 GB
or you can buy a cheaper large 68 pin HD (which are much easier to find cheap than native 50-pin hard drives) (example) and use a converter (example) with it.
For Zip drives, this one is nice.
If you can though, try to find a Zip 100 Plus, as they are compatible with both PC parallel ports and Mac SCSI ports.

um... zoom waaay in on the pic, its a paralell drive Oh right. 😛 I see that now. Sorry about that.
Here's one of the aforementioned Zip Plus drives with 22 Zip disks. Really good price too.
Another cheap Zip Plus with 17 Zip disks.
100 Zip disks

Posted by: macgeek417 on 2009-09-24 17:11:39 I'll try to get the one w/ 22 disks. the cool thing bout Zip disks is i have a usb drive already.
|
Posted by: macgeek417 on 2009-09-24 17:19:17 ...and why would you waant 100 disks? is 22+the 1 i have not enough?!

Posted by: Dog Cow on 2009-10-01 16:23:49 The power supply in the LC III might be too tiny to support such a high-capacity drive.
And that threw me off when you deleted your post.

The power supply in the LC III might be too tiny to support such a high-capacity drive. I've been running a 9.1 GB 50-pin SCSI Seagate in my LC 475 for quite a while now, and it's been fine.

Posted by: JRL on 2009-10-01 16:46:06 #1 won't work, because I think you can't run an Ultra-320 drive on the LC's PSU. (power constraints, etc.)
#2 is too big to fit.
